Baron of Bourn in the county of Cambridgeshire
(Held by the infamously corrupt Picot, Sherriff of Cambridge during the early years after the Norman Conquest. Following his death, his son forfeited the lands and King Henry I gave them to Pain Peverel, whose family held the land until it passed through marriage to the Pecche family in the 12th and 13th centuries including Hamon Pecche who took part in the Baron's revolt against King John (Lackland) in 1215 resulting in the loss of his lands - but achieved restoration under King Henry III in 1217. In 1284 a large part of the barony was surrendered to King Edward I in exchange for a yearly income by Gilbert Pecche, but was returned to his widow in 1293. There then followed a period of subinfeudation as the barony's lands were broken up.)
